To me, it signifies that yet another month has passed without a well-deserved pedicure, and here I am again, sitting at home, cutting my own toenails. I can even hear the sorrowful music playing.
I mean, think of it. There is absolutely no way anyone could look glamourous cutting her own toenails. That versus sitting in a plush chair, sipping hot green tea while someone trims your toenails, massages your calves and scrubs your legs with lovely lavendar smelling scrubs. The answer is simple. I am depriving myself of royal treatment.
But this month, I very willingly gave up my Cinderella status when I was offered a complimentary pedicure and foot spa treatment at Nail Arts by Serene, courtesy of Blue Moon Valley. Yippee yay!
This is what I look like after a spa treatment
Aptly named after the place in “Shangri-La”, the perfectparadise where everybody is happy, Blue Moon Valley was set up with the aim to provide choice and flexibility to interested Spa-goers. It entitles members to enjoy qualitytreatments at preferential rates by any of the participating spas (calledSpa-ticipants) without worry or concern.
Members (it only costs $12 for lifetime membership) are able to try out services by any of the Spa-ticipants that work with Blue Moon Valley, and are given preferential rates through a Pay-As-You-Use system. In other words, we no longer have to get suckered into spending thousands of dollars on a package with one particular spa just to enjoy special rates for our facials or massages. We simply make our bookings through Blue Moon Valley, and we are able to pay less than the published rates, without having to have our money locked up in big packages. And these preferential rates are exclusive to Blue Moon Valley.
How cool is that?
For all ye folks who prefer a visual explanation:
Blue Moon Valley works together with more than carefully selected 10 Spa-ticipants to offer you more than 300 spa and beauty treatments; you'll be spoilt for choice. Spa-ticipants are invited based on members' requests and upon Blue Moon Valley's favourable review. At this point in time, they include: Wellness Lounge, Nail Arts by Serene esBoudoir, Renewal Day Spa and Spa Boutique.Members (it only costs $12 for lifetime membership) are able to try out services by any of the Spa-ticipants that work with Blue Moon Valley, and are given preferential rates through a Pay-As-You-Use system. For all ye folks who prefer a visual explanation:
Now: You get to choose from services offered by any of the spas that work together with Blue Moon Valley
Instead of: You having to go to each spa individually and end up parting with more money to enjoy a cheaper per-session rate
Better news: A range of introductory heavily discounted treatments, or Shika 111, is offered to new members, to serve as a welcome treat. You can choose from full body massages and polishes, manicures and pedicures, waxing, and hand and foot spas.
"What if I already have an existing package with a Spa", you say?
If you're lucky enough like me, that the Spa is already in Blue Moon Valley's list of Spa-ticipants, simply use up your package, and then make subsequent purchases through Blue Moon Valley to enjoy the preferential rates. I've always gone to my usual nail place at Anchorpoint, and kind of stopped after my package expired because 1) I stopped full time work so had to be careful where my freelance pay was spent, and pedicures just didn't count as careful spending, and 2) Um hello, we have 2 kids aged 4 and below and no helper, where do I find the time for a pedicure?
So instead of feeling the pressure of having to buy a package (spend more money to save money?) to enjoy better rates, and then the stress of "what if I can't utilise it all within the time period and then it will all go to waste", now I can simply book for a pedicure through Blue Moon Valley and pay a rate that's lower than I would pay as a walk-in customer. Without having my money locked up in a package. Yay.
Who is this good for?
- Anyone who likes the idea of having money in her pocket instead of tied up in one Spa. Remember when Spas like True Spa and Subtle Senses and Wax in the City went kaput? Those poor people who signed up big packages with them. All that money, gone.
- It's also good for people who like the idea of saving money (anyone not on the same page here?). You can do so by paying less per treatment than you would as a walk-in customer.
- Those who like trying out different Spas but don't wish to pay the full price each time.
"Come, have some dessert"
Argh. I really don't like that part. You know, after you feel all fresh after a massage and all you want to do is go shopping because you only have 2 hours away from the kids but you can't because your therapist "invites you for dessert" and while you eat it, tells you all about this package and that package and how much you'll save if you plonk down $2,000 today, and the offer is only for today? We've all been through that.
Wanna hear really good news? Spas that work in line with Blue Moon Valley are not supposed to taunt Blue Moon Valley customers that way! Which means that after your refreshing facial, you get to walk straight out! How cool is that!
And here's the coolest part of all!
Blue Moon Valley is offering 3 lifetime memberships for 3 lucky readers of this blog! And out of these 3, one very lucky winner will (wait for it) also win a complimentary Shika 111 treatment!
Here's what you have to do to participate:
All 4 points must be fulfilled. Incomplete entries will be disqualified!
(it's bolded and underlined and in a different font colour and all, so "But I didn't know!" is not an acceptable excuse)
1. Like Blue Moon Valley's FB page
2. Like The Gingerbreadmum's FB page (if you have not already done so!)
3. Leave a comment on this blog telling us what your favourite I-Love-Me thing is. Doesn't need to be a spa treatment. It can be a scoop of ice cream or a long walk in the park by yourself. Stuff like that.
4. Leave your name and email address. Well, only if you want to be contacted if you win :)
Giveaway will close on 1 September 2012, at 11.59pm.
This giveaway is only open to readers in Singapore.
Disclaimer: Blue Moon Valley was founded and is run and owned by my mother. I paid for my own membership long before there were any promotions, but for purposes of this post, I was given a complimentary Shika 111 treatment. I did not receive any payment for this (not even a complimentary babysitting service), and all opinions expressed are my own. As a daughter, I am very proud of my mother's achievements and would do anything to help her, but as the owner of this blog, I am obligated to give fair and honest comments. Thankfully, the views of Adora, daughter of my mother, and Adora, reviewer from The Gingerbreadmum do not contradict. Hope I've cleared this up!

Go for my monthly facial, have a good massage by my therapist, and fall into deep sleep..(she knows me.. Won't laugh, or at least promised not to when I snore loudly... Hahaha)
Pick me! Me! Me!
Don't forget to leave your email addy to qualify!
DeleteOh yes I find Kit the best too!
Liked both pages...
ReplyDeleteMy favourite "love me'thing is going for monthly pedicure, massage and waxing. Simple things that i'm trying so hard to achieve ever since my boys came into my life! Not forgetting trying to go for a haircut ever since my last one during the CNY period (Gasp!!).

Haha. Going without a haircut for MONTHS is a norm for me!!
DeleteOh where to start! If I could choose just ONE it would be simply to lay down for an afternoon nap! But maybe a nap while getting a back massage too would be nice :D

An afternoon nap sure would be nice, yes! I sometimes doze off while latching Calla on but it's not the same :)
Deletemy fav "i love me" thing is anything that DOESN'T involve my kids!!! *evil laughter*

Tick, tick, tick all the same for me too! Ohhhhh Bangkok foot massages.... mmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteOoh ooh oh...I love me time. Mine will be (usually more of than not) on Friday nights in the study room with music emanating in the background (alternative rock mind you in a pleasant decibel pitch) with me painting. Or doing something creative. Even doing a photo collage to include pictures of the kiddoes and the fur-children give me a jolt of me-dom.

Sounds like a nice plan. It's Fri and I'm up too. Are you? :)
DeleteMine's a hot bath, complete with bath oils. Bodyshop used to sell these in little balls that you could just throw into the water and it would dissolve by itself.

Ooooooh yes I love those! All I need is a house with a bathtub :D

But as owner of Blue Moon Valley, I represent and serve every member who are equally special to me, that's why I have to charge you accordingly. Muarcks!
ReplyDeleteOh don't worry. Soon I will play the daughter card and ask for babysitting services!
DeleteDana Mummy and Daddy wins a free lifetime membership at Blue Moon Valley PLUS a complimentary SHIKA 111 treatment! Lucky you!
