I Heart Smiles, Day 20 - Enjoying a Concert

Poppy's been practicing for her school concert. You know how it is. Your 4-year-old comes back from school and sings bits and pieces of a song for months. Then after a while, you start learning the song too. At first you have no idea what it's about, then one day you receive the CD from her school, and you play it and it all makes sense.

So one afternoon, when we got home, I put it on. And waited till she realised what I was doing. Her eyes lit up the moment she recognised the song intro.

"That's my school concert song!!!"

And I was rewarded with a great big smile and a sneak preview to the concert. I love her look of concentration, the small tentative moments, the loud singing at the parts she was familiar with, the way she shush-ed me when I tried to sing along, and how she absolutely had to stand on a stage to perform.

PS she's a white cloud. :)

All my I Heart Smiles posts will be consolidated on my I Heart Smiles page

If you'd like to share how you make your kids smile, link up with me, won't you? Pictures of smiling kids optional though that'd be really nice. If your kids are shy, then please do include a picture of the thing that you do to make them smile :) It doesn't have to be a big thing, any little effort on your part (but it's got to be a conscious effort!) will do!

  2. Poppy looks so happy! :) And yes, Roo's rehearsing for their school concert too. 'Love the look of concentration,' indeed. She's serious about shaking her butt just the right way!
