We're lucky to have a little area outside our home. This is where we doodle with chalk on the floor when we don't feel like going downstairs to be given weird looks from passersby for doodling on the pavements.
It rinses off easily, don't worry.
It was one of those days when I had to prepare dinner, feed the baby and entertain Poppy at the same time. Seeing how I'm not an octopus, I requested for back up. Actually I only asked Max to keep an eye on Poppy but as you can see he really put in a great deal of effort!
Man, the smile she gave when she ran to tell me what her father had done!
| This entertained her for a good 45 minutes. She just sat there and vroomed all the cars around |
If you want to try this, I hope you have nice neighbours who would smile rather than tsk at you. And I strongly recommend that you get sidewalk chalk as opposed to normal chalk. It's much longer and fatter which makes it easier to hold and draw. We've been using normal chalk all this while and there was the occasional ouchie from scratching our fingers on the pavements. Since we've discovered sidewalk chalk, there's no turning back now! We got ours at Art Friend at only $1.80. It's not pricey at all but if you want to compare, it's $1.80 for 5 big pieces, compared to $2 for a whole box of little ones at Daiso.

If you'd like to share how you make your kids smile, link up with me, won't you? Pictures of smiling kids optional though that'd be really nice. If your kids are shy, then please do include a picture of the thing that you do to make them smile :) It doesn't have to be a big thing, any little effort on your part (but it's got to be a conscious effort!) will do!

Wow brilliant creativity there :) Maybe daddy can be the next Julian Beever. Some 3D chalk drawings for Poppy maybe?
