We bought Pop to the Shops for Poppy for Christmas and she really enjoys it. One afternoon after school, I ransacked our pantry cabinet and gathered some items, and prepared a real life "shop" for her.
She really enjoys the supermarket area of The City (you can read our review of it here) so I was hoping that this home-made version would keep her entertained as well.
For sale: Fruit and snacks!
I've also been collecting bottles caps for a while and they came in handy
All ready to hit the shops! Like her purse? It's made from a snack box, decorated with fabric tape and ribbon
One thing that I have been wanting to buy for Poppy for a long time, but never managed to convince myself to, is a shopping trolley. So we made do with a basket. Maybe now, with 2 girls, a shopping trolley would make sense :)
So after she picked up her purchases, we calculated the cost and from there, and took the opportunity to learn a little addition and subtraction. Being the generous mama that I am, I gave her five whole dollars to shop with. But I quickly realised that it's too much for a 4-year old to manage, so we're sticking with a $1 allowance these days. She's found a way around it though. Today, she said "Shopkeeper, since you're my mama, can I have some things for free?" :)
This is so cute! =D
